Grace Church of South Park was started by a move of the Holy Spirit. Two families sensed this call to start a new church that follows what Scripture has to say to us, and unashamedly follows the leading of the Holy Spirit.
We serve a God of miracles, and that is reflected in how He planted Grace Church in this gorgeous mountain area. The short version of the story is God started this church in the living room of Pastor Al & Connie Smith in May of 2005. We spent six months in the Indian Mountain Rec Center and then 4 1/2 years in the Jefferson Community Center. After much fasting and prayer, and a resolve to not borrow money to construct a building, We received 39 acres of land and enough money from God's people to build debt-free. God has blessed every step of the way and the topic of expansion has already been discussed.
Come and see God's miracle in the mountains of Colorado!
You will find our worship in song to be passionate. We sing a mix of hymns and contemporary praise & worship (we even have a dash of southern gospel at times). We feel worship in song is vitally important so we sing quite a bit during our church gatherings.
Most Sunday services allow time for your participation through testimony and praise. This has grown to be a wonderful time of encouragement for all of us as we share the leading and working of God in our everyday lives.
Our children join us during the song portion of our worship service and are then dismissed to have their own Children’s Church for a time of learning from the Bible on their own level. This teaching time is also thoroughly Biblical as we take the children through the Bible on a three-year cycle.
Our worship in preaching is undeniably biblical. The Bible is the basis of every sermon. You won’t find sermons on man-made philosophy, positive thinking, or how a Hollywood movie has spiritual relevance to your life. We simply follow the example of Nehemiah 8:8, "They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading" (ESV). We do not attempt to make the Bible relevant because the Bible is already relevant. Our goal in preaching is to show us how to apply the text to our daily lives. We do not simply wish to give you a nice dialogue on the issues of society but instead we desire to give you hope, and reason to live your life according to God’s Word.
We hold a Wednesday evening Bible study at 6:30 p.m. which includes a time of praise, prayer and open-discussion study of the Bible. This is typically a verse-by-verse study of a Book of the Bible but we do topical studies once in a while.
Once every quarter (usually on the fourth Sunday of January, April, July, and October) we take time out for a celebration of what God has done, what He is doing, and what He is going to do. Some call these gatherings business meetings because we do go over the church finances but I guarantee you it is unlike any other church business meeting you have ever attended; it is truly a celebration, complete with a time of food and fellowship.
We are always investigating and adding new ministries as the Lord opens doors for us. There are men's and women's Bible studies, a church choir, and a growing list of other opportunities for you to get involved in.
Come join us this week as we continually seek spiritual revival in South Park!
